Why people choose an independent boutique

  • Fitted by an optician

Every pair is measured in the frame you choose, checked against your prescription when the lenses arrive, and adjusted on your face at pickup.

    How fitting works

  • Designer collections in one place

Prada, Ray-Ban, Burberry, Coach and more, plus kids' frames, chosen for fit as much as for looks.

    Brands we carry

  • Your own prescription works here

Bring a current glasses prescription from any eye doctor and we can make your glasses from it.

    Bringing your prescription

  • Benefits checked before you order

Tell us your vision plan and we will explain what it covers and what you will pay before anything is ordered.

Meet Dr. Yousif Ghaleb

Dr. Ghaleb leads clinical care at Lens Society, from routine exams and contact lens fittings to visits for eyes that are red, dry or changing. Every exam ends with a clear explanation and time for your questions.

How a frame fitting works

Good glasses start with a few measurements most people never see. Here is what happens at the table.

Diagram of a frame front showing lens width and bridge width: 52 millimeter lens, 18 millimeter bridge, 145 millimeter temples. lens 52 bridge 18 height
Written on the temple as 52 □ 18 145 Lens width, bridge, temple length, in millimeters

Reading the numbers on your frame

Eyeglass lens options, explained

  1. Talk about how you use your glasses

Screens, driving, reading, sport. Your day decides the lens design and which frame shapes make sense.

  2. Try frames that fit your face and prescription

A strong prescription or a progressive lens narrows the field, and the optician will steer you to frames that work with it.

  3. Take measurements

Pupil distance and, for progressives and bifocals, fitting height, measured in the frame you chose.

  4. Order and check

Lenses are made to those measurements. When they arrive, we check them against your prescription before you pick up.

  5. Adjust at pickup

Temples, nose pads and fit are adjusted on your face so the glasses sit level and stay put.

Insurance and paying for your visit

Vision plans and medical insurance cover different things. We will help you understand what your plan covers before you order, and tell you the cost upfront if you are paying yourself.

How insurance works here

Have a prescription from another doctor?

Bring it in. If your glasses prescription is current, we can make glasses from it without an exam here. We will measure you in the frame you choose so the lenses are centered for your eyes.

Common questions

All questions and answers

Do I need an appointment to look at frames?

No appointment is needed to browse during opening hours. If you want an optician's undivided time, for example for progressive lenses or a child's first glasses, ask for a fitting appointment.

Do you take my insurance?

We accept VSP, Davis Vision, Spectera, EyeMed, Medicare, Michigan Medicaid, HAP, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network, and Priority Health. The insurance page lists each one. Vision plans and medical insurance cover different things, so tell us your carrier and we will help you understand your benefits before you order.

When does Lens Society open?

We open on Monday, November 2, 2026, at 13400 E 15 Mile Rd in Sterling Heights. You can request an appointment now, and we will confirm a time with you.

How do I book an eye exam?

Call us or send an appointment request through this website. A request is not a confirmed appointment; we contact you to agree on a time. Online booking will be added once it is tested end to end.

Can I bring a prescription from another eye doctor?

Yes. If your glasses prescription is current and complete, we can make glasses from it. Bring the written prescription, and we will take the fitting measurements in the frame you choose.
